A complaint should be made with the police by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa if the controversial gazette on the bond sale is not genuine, the Campaign for Free and Fair Election (CaFFE) says.
Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon of the CaFFE issuing a statement said it is questionable to believe that the gazette was issued under directives from Rajapaksa with respect of the bond sale on 1 January, 2015.
“Mahinda Rajapaksa should lodge a complaint with the police if this gazette is a fake and an attempt by the relevant parties to cover up the fraud,” the statement said.
The statement also added that the CaFFE does not believe Rajapaksa had issued the gazette and stated that it could be a “fabrication” of certain parties in a bid to divert attention away from it.
However, the former President has already vowed legal action against the Finance Ministry and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka over the issue. Rajapaksa told reporters in Colombo that he seeks legal advice to sue them.
