
The special investigations unit of the Ceylon Electricity board has taken legal action against 2617 people, caught receiving a supply of electricity illegally last year alone, sources reveal.
The raids were carried out under the guidance of the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.
The ministry states that the legal action taken against the individuals themselves have reaped in a profit worth Rs. 132 million as of yet.
The ministry has made a request to report any information pertaining to the fraudulent usage of electricity to the hotline 0112 422 259/ 1901 or 1987 .
