
The 15 students from the University of Peradeniya, arrested in connection with a ragging incident, have been further remanded till March 16 after being produced at the Kandy Magistrates Court.
Police have requested for warrant to be issued which will allow them to search through the suspects phones, to investigate the claims made regarding the possession of nude pictures of the students that had been bullied, on their mobile phones, Ada Derana reporter said.
The undergraduates, all second year students of the University of Peradeniya, were apprehended during a search operation carried out at around 1.00 am on the 20 of February, an official said.
The police launched the search after university’s proctor received a tip-off that eight junior students of the Agriculture Department were being subjected to ragging inside the house, Ada Derana reporter said.
