Pakistani youth arrested with heroin worth Rs 50M at BIA

A Pakistani national has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake with a haul of heroin worth over Rs 50 million. 

 

The 25-year-old suspect had arrived in the country at around 1.40am today (4) from Doha onboard Qatar Airways flight QR 668. 

 

Officers of the Airport Police Narcotics Bureau had detained and searched him based on a suspicion while they had discovered 5.5kg of heroin concealed in his luggage. 

 

The heroin haul is estimated to be worth over Rs 5 million, according to the PNB.

 

The suspect is being detained and further interrogated.
