
The Federation of the University Teachers Association (FUTA), will engage in a strike, later today (8), and will go on till tomorrow (9).
Media spokesperson of FUTA, N. K. Nishantha stated that the entire public university system which includes 15 universities will engage in this strike.
He further added that the reason behind the strikes was to highlight the issue regarding the wages of the academic staff working at the university.
Nishantha stated that all internal academic functions, such as the exams that would have been held during this period of strike, will inevitably be disrupted.
