
The Colombo Chief Judicial Medical Officer, Dr. Ajith Tennakoon says that Sri Lanka’s present laws with regard to abortions require changes.
Speaking at a press conference held in Colombo yesterday (14), he added carrying out abortions is should be allowed based on the decision of the relevant persons and considering humanitarian factors.
Dr. Tennakoon further stated that a proposal seeking the legalization of abortions in the country, under three grounds, has been put forward for consideration.
