
Two persons accused of setting fire to the house of former UNP Anuradhapura district campaign manager Dr. Raja Johnpulle were sentenced to 19 years and six months in prison.
The judgement was delivered when the case was taken up for hearing before the North Central Provincial High Court of Civil Appeal on Thursday.
The accused are former Pradeshiya Sabha member Anil Pushpananda and Gamini Jayasundara, Ada Derana reporter said.
The Attorney General had filed indictments against six accused over the case, three were acquitted by Judge Manjula Thilakaratne. Another accused, Gamini Perera, had died before the verdict was delivered.
Dr. Johnpulle’s house and office were attacked in September, 2008.
