A government minister Monday charged the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) of following a particular political agenda.
Minister Lakshman Kiriella made the observation while speaking at a meeting held in Harispattuwa.
“It is a trade union which acts according to a particular political agenda,” he claimed.
The Minister went on to say there is no legality for the GMOA to intervene in the issues relating to the private medical university.
Kiriella also pointed out it would be the university authorities and the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) that hold the authority to take a decision on the SAITM. “This issue will be resolved after discussions with the SLMC,” he added.
