
The Health Ministry has stated that the Dengue epidemic, affecting the residents in the Trincomalee district, will be under control within the next two weeks.
The doctor in charge of the eradication of Dengue, Dr. N. Saravanabavan stated that steps have been taken to eradicate the vector and virus, even to this day.
Around 3500 dengue patients have been admitted to the Kinniya, Trincomalee,Uppuweli and Mathura hospitals, while 15 have been reported dead, as a result of the virus.
A clinic run by the Sri Lanka Navy on disease management, has been set up in the Analathiv Hospital in Jaffna.
Sources from the Navy reveal that 538 residents on the islands, Mandathiv and Analathiv are receiving treatment from the clinic.
