Rs.2 million worth alcohol seized

A stock of alcohol that had been imported into the country illegally, worth Rs.2 million has been seized by the Department of Excise.
The stock had been found hidden in a storage compartment at the Orugodawaththa Customs Department.
Mentioning the names of seven importers, the stock is believed to have been sent to the country, by a group of Sri Lankan’s, living in Italy.
Wing Commander Ravi Jayasinghe stated that incidents such as the one mentioned, are quite common during the festive season.
