
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has returned to the island after his official visit to Vietnam.
The PM and his delegation arrived back in the island today in the EK349 aircraft belonging to Emirates Airlines, at 1.55 am today (19), sources reveal.
The PM decided to shorten his visit to Vietnam in the wake of the Meethotamulla tragedy.
The Prime Minister’s Office stated that the PM had cancelled several events and discussions scheduled to be held in Vietnam, and arrived back in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, a special discussion regarding the Meethotamulla incident is scheduled to be held today (19), led by President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Reports reveal that measures to provide relief to the victims of the Meethotamulla garbage heap collapse will be addressed at this discussion.
