This Government has no right to hold a May Day rally, Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) leader Udaya Gammanpila says.
Gammanpila expressed this view while speaking at the May Day rally of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna held at the Galle Face Green on Monday.
Gammanpila also accused the government of ‘looting’ the pension of the working force while making attempts to ‘rob’ the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF) as well.
He also went on to say the move to grant a top defence post to Field Marshal and Minister Sarath Fonseka came in a bid to suppress the struggle of the working class.
“With the present situation, the Government has no other option than holding the election,” he said.
