Environmental service programme launched in Kandy

The environmental service programme “Parisaraya Poojaneeyai” (translation: Environment is Sacred) was launched today (2) before the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy, under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The environmental service programme will be implemented in line with the closing ceremony of the international Vesak Day celebrations to be held in Kandy.
The programme will be conducted under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture & Environmental Affairs of the Central Province, with the support of the Central Province Security Forces and state institutions.
The city of Kandy is due to be cleaned through this programme.
