
An individual fell to their death from a bus carrying participants of a May Day rally.
The bus, occupied by participants of the May Day rally at Campbell Park, had left for Sigiriya at around 2 am today (02).
Whilst the bus was making a turn after dropping off some passengers at the Pidurangala junction, a passenger standing on the front-end footboard had fallen off and been run over by the rear-left wheel of the bus.
The victim was admitted to the Dambulla Hospital with severe injuries, where he died shortly after.
The deceased is said to be a 44-year-old resident of Sigiriya.
The Police Media Spokesperson’s Office stated that the bus-driver had been arrested by the Sigiriya Police in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, another individual, upon departure from the May Day rally held at Galle Face, had fallen off from the footboard of a bus.
The incident reportedly took place on Olcott Mawatha in Fort.
Police stated that the injured victim was admitted to the National Hospital in Colombo for treatment.
