Night-time thief arrested

An individual was arrested in Welikanna, Hanwella for allegedly breaking into houses at night and stealing money and jewellery.
The Police Media Spokesperson’s Office stated that the Special Crimes Division of Mirihana had received a tip, based on which they conducted an investigation and made the arrest.
The suspect had allegedly looted houses in the areas of Athurugiriya, Mulleriyawa, Thalangama, Maharagama and Boralesgamuwa.
Stolen goods in the form of 60 g and 410 mg of gold and Rs. 2,485,000 in cash were also recovered by the Police.
The arrestee, a 45-year-old resident of Waskaduwa, is due to be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate Court.
