Local fishermen nabbed for engaging in illegal fishing

Sri Lanka Navy personnel apprehended 7 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing activities using explosive in the seas of South Bar, Mannar.
The arrests were made yesterday (2) by a group of naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command together with the officials of the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries (ADF) in Mannar.
During the arrest; 2 dinghies, 4 unauthorized nets, 6 diving masks, 6 pairs of diving fins and a catch of 2,210 kg of fish were taken into naval custody.
The arrested fishermen and their belongings were handed over to the Mannar ADF for onward investigations, SLN said.
