There is a clear difference between the agreements proposed and the agreement arrived at with a Chinese company for the investment in the Hambantota harbour, Minister of Ports and Shipping, Arjuna Ranatunga states.
The Minister who attended the opening of the Devinuwara Lighthouse to the public also stated that the agreement would be structured such that the rights of the Sri Lanka Port Authority would be protected.
Meanwhile, the Ports Protection Union Front announced that they would be holding a protest at 12.00 noon today (05) in front of the Clock Tower in Fort.
The protest will be held to oppose the handing over of the Eastern and Western terminals of the Colombo harbour to an Indian company.
