A suspect has been arrested for allegedly abusing his 15-month-old daughter repeatedly, Wanathavillu Police state.
The arrest was made in the evening yesterday (04).
The arrestee is said to be a 24-year-old resident of Wanathavillu.
Police state that the suspect had previously been involved with the sale of moonshine and ganja, and had later found employment as a mason.
The arrest was made after a complaint made by the suspect’s wife.
The wife, a 22-year-old woman, had stated that the husband kept continuously abusing their daughter physically.
Wanatavillu Police have made arrangements to admit the allegedly abused daughter to the Puttalam Base Hospital for an examination and treatment.
Police are in the process of conducting further investigations.
