A proposal has been made to appoint external personnel as investigators for the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
Whilst about 450 investigators are required by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, only about 200 work as investigators at present, reports reveal.
The Commission stated that all these investigators were police officers and that the existing number was insufficient.
The Commission also explained that although more investigators were needed, there was a shortage of police officers with the necessary qualifications for the post.
Accordingly, the Commission received the proposal to appoint external personnel instead.
The proposal will be presented to the cabinet in future for approval of the cabinet.
Individuals who have passed their GCE Advanced Level examinations and completed an undergraduate degree will be recruited as investigators under this proposal.
