Election win of French President-elect Emmanuel Macron provides a great platform for relations between France and Sri Lanka to prosper, the President said.
“Congratulations to Emmanuel Macron on your remarkable victory. It provides a great platform for relations between our nations to prosper,” President Maithripala Sirisena tweeted.
Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera also in a twitter post said, “A great victory for liberal democracy. Moderates around the world rejoice. Vive la France.”
Independent centrist Macron, 39, who was unknown three years ago ago, became France’s youngest-ever president after an estimated 65% to 35% victory in the second round run-off against Front National’s right-wing leader Marine Le Pen.
