
Sri Lanka Police today announced that vehicles which are parked in a manner that obstruct the roads in and around Colombo where Vesak zones have been organized in line with the UN Vesak festival, will be taken into police custody.
Issuing a statement, the police department said that parking vehicles and blocking entry to Vesak zones not only inconveniences the public, but also hinders other motorists.
Therefore such vehicle will be taken into custody and taken to the nearest police station while the vehicle owners will have to bear the costs for this, police said.
The statement said that parking vehicles along the road from Polduwa Junction to Parliament Road, near the Apegama premises as well as along the road towards Kimbulawala is especially prohibited due to the Diyawanna Vesak zone.
