
Over ten statements have been taken in connection with the live grenade discovered in the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) premises, Police state.
The statements were taken by the Maradana Police and Crime Division of Colombo, the two authorities responsible for the investigations into this incident.
Police stated that statements were taken on the day of the incident from security officers on duty at the SLMC and bystanders.
The police have also begun analysing the footage of CCTV cameras in the area.
Meanwhile, the Inter medical faculty students’ action committee is conducting a demonstration outside the Colombo Medical Faculty against said incident.
The Association of Medical Faculty’s Lecturers (AMFL) stated that several threats of SLMC-targeted attacks had been received in the past, and added that no legal action had been taken in response to these threats.
Summoner of the AMFL, Dr. N. C. Weerasinghe said that such a dangerous situation had now arisen because the government failed to provide a just solution for the SAITM issue.
