The government must be structured in such a way that all social classes will be treated fairly, President Maithripala Sirisena says.

The President added that everyone must live in harmony as one country.

He also stated that certain extremist groups were creating disputes and attempting to spread the plague that is segregation, and added that everyone must therefore be cautious and sensible to prevent falling victim to the actions of the extremists.

The President thus expressed his opinions at a ceremony at the Muslim Central College in Kaduruwela yesterday (15).

Meanwhile, President Sirisena has made the decision to summon the Presidential Task Force on Dengue Eradication for a meeting.

Accordingly, the Task Force will be meeting today (16) at the President’s Office.

In 2017 so far, 44,623 Dengue patients have been recorded whereas 115 deaths from Dengue have been reported.

Reports state that the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy, Jaffna, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ratnapura, Kegalle and Matara have been recognized as high-risk areas for Dengue.

The President’s Media Division stated that the Presidential Task Force on Dengue Eradication would therefore be gathering in order to discuss the methods to prevent the spread of Dengue.
