Two individuals were killed in an accident in Puliyankulama, Puttur, after a tractor collided with a train.
Police stated that the collision occurred when the tractor was attempting to cross the railway line.
The driver of the tractor and his assistant were both admitted to the Vavuniya Base Hospital due to severe injuries, where they died shortly after.
The deceased are residents of Puliyankulama, aged 20 and 21 years.
Puliyankulama Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
Meanwhile, yet another person was killed in an accident in Komaligama, along the Thanamalwila – Udawalawa road.
Police stated that the accident occurred due to the collision of a motorcycle and a van.
The motorcyclist and the motorcycle passenger were initially admitted to the Thanamalwila Base Hospital for treatment, after which they were transferred to the Hambantota Base Hospital for intensive treatment, where the motorcyclist died.
The deceased motorcyclist is said to be a 34-year-old resident of Handapanagala.
The van driver was arrested in connection with the accident.
Police are reportedly conducting further investigations into the incident.
