The Court of Appeal Thursday decided not to go ahead with a Writ Petition filed by the Perpetual Treasuries Limited against imposing restriction on it by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), Ada Derana reporter said.
The petition was rejected as it was taken into consideration before a bench headed by Justice Rohini Walgama.
The State Council pointed out the petition should not be accepted since there is a discrepancy on the registered name of the company, Ada Derana reporter added.
The Counsel who appeared on behalf of the company has expressed their willingness to withdraw the petition, however the State Council has objected to the request and argued that petition filing fees should also be charged.
The petition was filed by the Perpetual Treasuries Limited in February, 2017. The company is in the spotlight due to the controversy surrounding a treasury bond issue by the Central Bank.
