PM to attend UN Oceans Conference in NY, USA

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is due to attend the United Nations Oceans Conference in New York, USA today (05).

 

The Prime Minister who is in New York seeking medical treatment reportedly received an invite to take part in the conference.

 

The conference will pay attention towards the utilization of the ocean and marine resources for sustainable development, and the conservation, protection and management of coastal environments.

 

State leaders, ministers, entrepreneurs and other prominent personnel will reportedly be taking part in the Oceans Conference of 2017.

 

President of the UN General Assembly, Peter Thomson stated that the process to reverse the damage sustained by oceans and their coasts would be implemented in line with the conference.
