25,000 still in flood-victim camps

Approximately 25,000 people are still seeking shelter in temporary relief camps due to the adverse weather conditions that prevailed over the island during the past few days.
24,962 individuals of 7,046 families are seeking refuge across 226 flood-victim camps, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) said.
The DMC also stated that 717,262 individuals of 184,265 families in total were affected by the floods and landslides.
In terms of districts, 15 districts were affected.
Death toll is reported to be at 214, with 79 more still missing.
Relief operations are being conducted by the armed forces and other parties.
The Government of Sri Lanka has allocated Rs. 165 million for relief and compensation purposes, in light of the catastrophe.
