Zoysa condemns Govts. relief efforts
Mobitel Inner

MP Ranjith De Zoysa stated that the politicians of the country should have taken a more genuine stance when helping out with the relief effort, instead of putting on a facade when it came to resolving the issue.

The MP made these statements during a media briefing held by the Joint Opposition party earlier today (6).

He further added that the consequences caused by the torrential, rain was very similar to that of the Tsunami that occurred in 2004. De Zoysa stated that the government lack of preparation for such circumstances has led to the present situation, and that the circulars issued have prevented proper action being taken to help curb the problem.

De Zoysa went onto say that the joint opposition party along with himself would like the President to work on a solution to help reduce the detrimental effects of the consequences of such disasters in the future, as a proper plan is still not in place.

Meanwhile, MP Kumara Welgama stated that many politicians were busy engaging themselves in vehicle parades during the floods, angering the public, while he was busy helping out with the relief efforts in the water.

He further added that Deputy Minister Palitha Thewaperuma was one of the few politicians who managed to help out with the relief effort in person.
