An individual was killed in a traffic accident along the Hanwella – Urapola road in Dompe today (07), leaving 7 more injured.
Police stated that the accident had happened when a van and a lorry collided head-on.
The van was transporting employees of a private factory at the time of the accident, Police said.
The van driver and the 07 others who were injured were admitted to the Gampaha Base Hospital, where the van driver succumbed to his injuries.
Two of the victims have been transferred from the Gampaha Base Hospital to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment.
The deceased van driver is said to be a 22-year-old resident of Baduragoda, Veyangoda.
The lorry driver has been arrested in connection with the accident.
Dompe Police are conducting further investigations.
