Navy apprehends 4 fishermen engaged in illegal fishing activities

A group of naval personnel attached to the Northern Naval Command apprehended 4 local fishermen for engaging in illegal fishing activities using unauthorized nets in the sea area of Vedithalathivu.
Along with the fishermen; a traditional boat (Wallam), an outboard motor and a 200 m long fishing net were taken into naval custody.
The arrested fishermen and items were handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries, Vedithalathivu for onward investigations.
