
An adjournment speech on the existing disaster crisis situation will be held in parliament today (9), at 10.30am.
The adjournment speech was planned to be held upon a request made by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and the Joint Opposition Party.
The Disaster Management Center reported that around 13000 individuals are still being held at 149 rescue centers around the country.
The largest number of refugees have been reported from the Ratnapura district, where 9202 individuals have been accommodated at 105 rescue centers.
A total of 1758 individuals are currently being held in four rescue centers in the Matara district.
Meanwhile the warning issued by the National Building Research Organization, regarding the risk of landslides and earth slips will be in effect till mid day, today (9).
