According to the weather forecast issued by the Meteteorological Department, showers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and North-Western provinces.

Fairly strong winds with a speed of about 50kmph will also be experienced over the island, except in the Northern Province.

Several spells of showers will occur in the sea area off the coast extending from Colombo to Hambantota via Galle, the Department said.

Winds will reportedly be Westerly to South-Westerly in direction, and speed will be 30-40 kmph.

Meanwhile, the sea area off the coast extending from Mannar to Colombo via Puttalam, and the sea area off the coast extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambanthota are likely to become rough, as the wind speed can increase up to 60 kmph, the Department warned.

The authority also announced that the prevailing showery weather condition over South-Western part of the island will be subjected to a temporary reduction by tomorrow (10).
