
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe met with the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting took place in New York, at the Office of the Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the UN.
The discussion primarily paid attention to the relationship between Sri Lanka and the Commonwealth. Other important aspects that were of mutual interest to both parties were also addressed, the PM’s Office verified.
Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Deodat Maharaj, and Director of the Oceans and Natural Resources Advisory Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat, Rosemary Cardogan were also present at this momentous occasion.
During the discussion, PM Wickremesinghe had reportedly taken the opportunity to invite the Commonwealth’s Secretary-General to visit Sri Lanka.
