The cabinet paper required for the sale of acres of land in Colombo, belonging to Lanka Sathosa Ltd., to an Indian company, will be presented during a cabinet meeting that will be held today (13).
The statements were brought out by MP Bandula Gunawardane during a press conference held by the Joint Opposition Economic Research Unit today (13).
He added that the country is being auctioned to India, and that the land he protected as the former Minister of Trade under the previous government, is now being sold away.
Gunawardane added that although the interest rate paid on foreign loans was lower in 2016 than in 2015, the profits earned via the reduction was not received by the country.
Furthermore, he stated that the profits earned due to the reduction in world oil prices could have been used to pay off the foreign debt, however the government did not act upon the opportunity.
