Several areas of the North have initiated a hartal campaign today (16) to oppose the motion of no-confidence filed against the Chief Minister of the Northern Province, C. V. Vigneswaran.
Ada Derana reporters stated that the hartal campaign was launched in several districts including Jaffna, Kilinochchi and Mulativu, where shops and businesses were closed and black flags raised.
Meanwhile, an organization by the name of Tamil Community Forum will reportedly be conducting a protest march originating from the Nallur Kovil, leading up to the Northern Province Governor’s Office.
A petition is subsequently due to be submitted to the Governor’s Office seeking legal action against the 21 members who filed the motion of no-confidence against the Northern Province Chief Minister, C. V. Vigneswaran.
