Investigation reports on allegations against Wimal handed over

The extracts of the case filed against former Minister Wimal Weerawansa for allegedly misusing state vehicles have been presented to the Attorney General, Ada Derana court reporter said.

 

The Financial Crimes Division (FCID) has stated that the investigations related to the matter have been concluded, when they case was heard today (19), at the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court. 

 

The allegations state that Weerawanasa had cost the government Rs.90 million due to the misuse of state owned vehicles. 

 

Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne has instructed the FCID that once the case is brought back to the court, the Attorney General’s decision on the reports will be put forward, while issuing a reminder to the Attorney General. 

 

In addition, the second respondent, the former Deputy Chairman of the State Engineering Corporation, Samantha Lokuhannadige, has also been granted permission to travel overseas from  June 10 to August 03 2017. 

 

The case will be taken into consideration again on October 23.
