The Registrar of the Medical Council, Dr. Terrence de Silva stated that the post of Chairman the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) will be vacant from the 30 of this month (June).
He added that the SLMC have already been notified of this change.
Hence the existing Chariman, Kalo Fonseka’s period of office will conclude on the 30 of June.
Fonseka was originally leave office on the 31 of December 2016, however upon a request made by the SLMC, his term was extended by six months.
De Silva added that a decision should be made to either extend Fonseka’s term time, or a new individual should be appointed to take up the position by the 30 of June.
Meanwhile, a petition that was compiled against the decision made by the Appeal Court, regarding the Malabe Medical College will be presented to the Supreme Court, tomorrow (22).
