The Writ Petition filed seeking an order to direct the government to introduce a national policy for waste management has been postponed, Ada Derana reporter said.
The petition was filed by the Centre for Environment Justice. The defendants in the case include the President, the Central Environment Authority and the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC).
The petitioner has argued that many environmental issues have been erupted due to the absence of a proper and a scientific method to recycle garbage in Sri Lanka.
However, the State Council has apprised the court that the Attorney General requires to study the background in this regard thus it needs more time, Ada Derana reporter added.
The petition will be taken into consideration again on August 09.
