Appointments of new Defence Secretary and Eastern Province Governor

Kapila Mudantha Waidyaratne has just been appointed as the new Secretary of Defense, Government sources said.
The appointment was made following the resignation of former Secretary of Defense, Karunasena Hettiarachchi.
Kapila Mudantha Waidyaratne served in the capacity of the Senior Additional Solicitor General.
Meanwhile, President Maithripala Sirisena has also appointed Rohitha Bogollagama as the new Governor of the Eastern Province.
Rohitha Bogollagama who is a qualified attorney has also served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The President made said appointment following the appointment of former Governor Austin Fernando as the new Secretary to the President.
