The actions of the incumbent government are shortsighted, according to political analyst Gevindu Kumaratunga.
He made these comments addressing a dialogue under the title of “Wenasa Sepada?” at the National Library in Colombo today (7).
He also said that appointing TNA leader R. Sampanthan who only received around 500,000 votes as the Opposition Leader and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) as the Chief Opposition Whip is an extremely dangerous decision.
The mandate of over 5 million people has exited the parliamentary process through this, he charged.
President’s Counsel Manohara de Silva also participated in the dialogue.
