06 new political parties to be registered

The Election Commission has made the decision to grant permission for the registration of 06 new political parties.
Chairman of the Election Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya states that 92 new political parties had applied for registration when applications were called for in February 2017.
Deshapriya said that 06 parties had been chosen out of the 92 parties that applied, and that the relevant gazette notice will be issued soon.
