
Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena has pleaded guilty to charges of failing to declare assets and liabilities, Ada Derana reporter said.
This was announced at the Colombo Magistrate’s Court this morning (06) as two cases filed against Gunawardena were taken into consideration before Chief Magistrate Lal Ranasinghe Bandara.
The Bribery Commission had filed these cases against Gunawardena following his failure to declare assets and liabilities from 2005 - 2007 while he was serving as the Chairman of the National Lotteries Board.
The Chief Magistrate has too ordered to obtain suspect’s finger prints and called a report to disclose offence history of Gunawardena, Ada Derana reporter added.
The verdict of the cases will be delivered on July 20.
The Chief Magistrate had earlier released the suspect on a personal bail of Rs.100,000.
