The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka today allowed the Government Medical Officers’ Association to intervene in the petition file by the Sri Lanka Medical Council over the private medical college in Malabe.
The SLMC had filed a petition challenging the verdict of the Court of Appeal with regard to the registration of medical graduates from SAITM.
When the case was taken up today (6), the Supreme Court decided accept the request made by the GMOA.
President’s Counsel Gamini Marapana, appearing on behalf of the government doctors’ association, had pointed out that the GMOA has a right to intervene and present facts as it is important to the medical profession.
However, attorneys representing SAITM had raised objections to the request.
The case was postponed till August 03.
