
The Government on Sunday announced the ceiling prices for Full Blood Count and Antigen tests. Accordingly, the Health Minister has ordered all private hospitals to continue price ceiling on Full Blood Count at Rs.250 and Antigen test at Rs.1000.
A deadly outbreak of dengue fever has ravaged the country, killing at least 227 people and infecting tens of thousands so far this year.
Over 80,000 patients have tested positive for dengue island-wide, with a majority being reported from the Western Province.
The Health Ministry further warned strict action against the laboratories and private hospitals that ignore the restriction.
Director General of the Health Services, Dr. Jayasundera Bandara and the Director of the Private Medical Services Unit, Kanthi Ariyaratne, have also apprised the private hospitals association that the ministry order will be in effect until further notice.
