Unrest at Point Pedro following shooting

A situation of unrest has arisen at Point Pedro of Jaffna, following yesterday’s (09) shooting which claimed the life of a youth.

 

The Ada Derana reporter stated that tyres had been set on fire at several points along the road from Point Pedro to Kodikamam.

 

Traffic movement has also been obstructed in certain areas between Point Pedro and Kodikamam.

 

Police opened fire at a lorry transporting sand yesterday (09), when said lorry failed to heed orders to stop.

 

A 24-year-old was killed as a result of the incident.

 

A Sub Inspector and a Constable have been arrested in connection with the incident.
