
The committee appointed to make amendments to traffic fines, has presented their report to the president.
The secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Nihal Somaweera presented the report at the Presidential Secretariat today (11).
Due to the strong backlash that occurred against the decision to increase traffic fines presented in the budget, a new committee was appointed to evaluate the issue, by the president.
The committee included the secretaries of the ministries of Finance and Transport, the Commissioner General of Transport, Director Inspector General (DIG) of Motor Traffic and a representative of the Legal Draftsman’s Department.
Somaweera added that the report will be presented to the cabinet in the future.
