National Organizer of the All-Ceylon Agrarian Organization, Namal Karunaratne said that Sri Lanka had begun importing coconut, one of the three chief export crops of the island.
He pointed out that this was in fact illegal. Karunaratne stated this upon attending a public gathering in Anuradhapura yesterday (11).
He proceeded to state that the previous government had also taken measures to import the commercial crop of coconut in the same manner.
