PAKISTAN cricketer Zulqarnain Haider, who went missing from the team’s hotel in Dubai after allegedly receiving a death threat, has been found after getting off a plane at London’s Heathrow airport.
Haider, 24, the team’s wicket-keeper, went missing at about 6:00am local time and arrived at Heathrow hours later.
A statement released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) earlier said that Haider “left the team hotel without informing any member of the Pakistan Team Management.”
“Zulqarnain was in possession of his passport at the time he left [the] hotel which he had taken from Pakistan Team Management [the] previous evening for personal use,” the statement continued.
The PCB added that Haider left the UAE for the United Kingdom.
“PCB continues to monitor this situation and is in regular contact with concerned authorities in this regard,” the statement added.
Haider left a message on his Facebook page saying he was leaving Pakistan cricket because he had received the threat after the team lost a match against South Africa.
The cryptic message read, “leaving pakistan cricket because get bad msg fr 1 man fr lose the match in last game.”
Haider did not arrive with the team at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium for the team’s deciding One Day International match against South Africa on Monday morning.
Earlier , the team manager Intikhab Alam reported Haider missing.
He said: “I can’t make much comment on this, but I can only confirm that Haider did not come with the team to the ground and we are looking for him.”
Haider was fined $136 on Sunday for breaking curfew hours imposed by team management.
