The Colombo District Court has issued an interim injunction prohibiting the Sri Abayaramaya Temple in Narahenpita from being used for any political activities.
The order was issued by Colombo District Judge Sujeewa Nissanka when a petition filed by Venerable Pathberiye Vimalagnana Thero was taken up today (14).
The petition was filed in February 2016 seeking an injunction preventing the use of the Abayaramaya Temple for political activities as it is an injustice to the devotees.
After considering the facts presented, the Colombo District Judge issued the interim injunction to the Chief Incumbent of the temple, Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero to halt all political activities at the Abayaramaya.
The hearing of the petition was postponed to November 20, Ada Derana court reporter said.
