The All Ceylon Ports General Worker’s Union says it has called off the strike action which was planned for tomorrow (27).
The union stated that the protest was organized to highlight the importance of amending the agreement.
Secretary of the Union, Chandrasiri Mahagamage stated that the union was planning on having a joint strike, with the Petroleum Workers Union; but changed their course of action after the discussions the Petroleum Trade Union’s workers had with the president on the 26.
However, the Union stated that they believe that the government will work towards transferring the Hambantota Port to the Sri Lankan Ports Authority, as if they do not do so, a joint protest will be organized with the Petroleum Workers Union, on Tuesday (1).
